Ytterligare kärnkraftsreaktor i USA kan återtas i drift
Den amerikanska energijätten Next Era Energy kan bli nästa bolag att väcka liv ett kärnkraftverk, enligt Bloomberg. Det handlar om anläggningen Duane Arnold i Iowa där verksamheten lades ner 2020, efter att den största kunden valt att riva sitt avtal.
AI-boomen och den omfattande utbyggnaden av serverhallar gör att efterfrågan ser annorlunda ut i dag.
– Det finns ett mycket stort intresse från kunder, särskilt datacenterkunder, kopplat till den platsen. Vi befinner oss i en period med betydande efterfrågan på el, säger vd John Ketchum.
Nyligen meddelade Rival Constellation att de ska återstarta en av reaktorerna i Three Mile Island och att man tecknat ett avtal med Microsoft.
